Student Led Assemblies at Edmund Partridge Community School

Over the past few years, grade 6-8 students at Edmund Partridge Community School have been tasked with developing and leading monthly assemblies for the entire school (300+ students). Classroom teachers are given the opportunity to sign up for which month they would like to organize. Some are open theme; others are pre-set (e.g. United Way, Earth Day, End of Year Celebration). Teachers work with students over 2-3 weeks prior to the assembly to plan the theme, research content, develop posters/signs about the topic, and design presentations and activities. All students in the classroom are encouraged to contribute to the preparation of the assembly. Most students will also volunteer to present or to provide assemblies last 20-40 minutes.
